Terms of use

Last updated: July 2, 2026

By accessing or using Rent Affordable (the "Site"), you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.

1. Nature of the service

Rent Affordable is a free, ad-supported informational directory of HUD-assisted multifamily rental properties in the United States. We compile, organize, and republish data from public government sources. We are not a housing authority, real-estate brokerage, property management company, or government agency, and we are not affiliated with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.

2. Accuracy disclaimer

While we make reasonable efforts to keep the directory accurate and up to date, property information changes constantly: waitlists open and close, management companies change, contact numbers are reassigned, and properties enter and exit federal programs. The Site is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. Always confirm property details, eligibility requirements, rent, availability, and waitlist status directly with the property's on-site management or your local Public Housing Agency before making any housing decision.

3. No professional advice

The guides, FAQs, and other editorial content on the Site are for general informational purposes only. They do not constitute legal, financial, real-estate, or social-services advice. Your housing situation is unique, and decisions should be made in consultation with qualified professionals, your local Public Housing Agency, or a HUD-approved housing counselor.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Site for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these Terms;
  • Scrape, copy, or redistribute the Site's content in bulk without our written permission (the underlying HUD data is, of course, freely available from HUD itself);
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Site's operation, including overloading our servers with automated requests;
  • Misrepresent your identity or impersonate Rent Affordable in communications with property owners or housing agencies.

5. Third-party links and advertisements

The Site contains links to third-party websites and displays third-party advertisements. We do not endorse and are not responsible for the content, products, services, or privacy practices of any third party. Your dealings with advertisers and linked websites are solely between you and them.

6. Intellectual property

Site design, editorial content, illustrations, and brand assets are © Rent Affordable and may not be reproduced without permission. Property data is sourced from public government datasets and is not subject to copyright. The HUD logo and other government marks belong to their respective owners.

7. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Rent Affordable and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Site, including but not limited to loss of housing opportunities, denial of benefits, or harms resulting from outdated or inaccurate information. Our total liability for any claim arising from your use of the Site is limited to one hundred U.S. dollars (US $100).

8. Changes to the Site or these Terms

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Site at any time. We may also update these Terms; the "Last updated" date above will reflect any changes. Continued use of the Site after a change constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

9. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the State of Delaware, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles.
